Greetings and happy belated New Year to you all!

Last year was a great year for us! Beautiful brides, handsome grooms, great families and good times. Delta weddings, urban weddings, rural weddings, local weddings - you name it, we had quite the variety. A huge "thank you" to all of you for allowing Pam and myself to be a part of your big day. It's truly a blessing and an honor to be able to do what we do. We wish all of you happiness and success in the years to come.

As of this writing, 2011 is stacking up to be a phenomenal year! We've booked many of this wedding season's prime Saturday's. Don't wait too long, the best summer Saturday's always book soon after the first of the year.

We also encourage you to take a look at the "Bridal 2011" insert in today's Vicksburg Post. We've been hearing for quite some time now about Vicksburg's ad campaign to bring more destination weddings to the city. Hats off to Executive Director Bill Seratt with the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau for pushing this forward. We can't wait to get our hands on a copy of "Vicksburg Vows" to have a look!

Speaking of Vicksburg Weddings and Vicksburg Brides, the insert in today's paper also mentions a few of our favorite wedding service providers here in the Vicksburg area. Both the Duff Green Mansion and the Cedar Grove Mansion are two excellent antebellum homes for destination type weddings along with the Wilsonwood Lodge with its beautiful grounds and accommodations. Smiley & Sons Jazz and Dance Band is one of the most unique live acts I've ever witnessed. Front man "Billy Rick" Smiley, sporting dreadlocks and a Gibson Firebird, puts his heart into it. The variety of songs they played blew me away, from covering Michael Jackson's Billy Jean to Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight to a rousing version of Elvis's American Trilogy.

Bare in mind that this band isn't like the typical "cover band". They do their OWN version. That's what makes them so cool. If you ever get the chance to see Smiley & Sons, I highly recommend it. - Tim

We had a great time this past Saturday working with the Simmons and Duncan families! It was a gorgeous day for a beautiful wedding, and the Lake Caroline Club House and water front provided the perfect back drop for their sunset ceremony!

Speaking of the ceremony, I have to say that the recessional was like none other we've seen. Combining the Verve's Bitter Sweet Symphony with the pageantry of the Saber Arch....stunning to say the least. And then there was the surprise! An epic ending!

Just today I was reading my Twitter feed and saw where Michael Zhang (@petapixel) had tweeted about Herman Leonard's passing. Any photographer worth their salt has drooled over Leonard's iconic images of the great Jazz musicians taken back in the late 40's. I, like most practitioners of the art of photography was blown away by the famous shot of Dexter Gordon. There was just something special about it.

Once while in New Orleans, (pre-Katrina) I had the opportunity to see an original Dexter Gordon print by the master himself. Somehow we struck up a conversation with one of the employees of A Gallery Of Fine Photography about Leonard's work, and the guy mentioned how Herman would drop by the gallery once a week or so. I was like, I'm sure he does....

Well, unbeknownst to me, Herman Leonard did in fact reside in New Orleans at the time. I was fascinated to say the least!

I remember reading a couple of years later that the water did get to his home during Katrina and damaged thousands of original prints. Later it was learned that the negatives had been put in a vault before the storm and were safe and sound.

So the story goes, Herman Leonard evacuated to Los Angeles during Katrina and wound up never returning to New Orleans.

Jason & Deborah tied the knot this past April 10th at Christ Episcopal Church
in Vicksburg's beautiful 'Old Town" district! The morning started with photos
of Jason and his family at Tom Pharr's lovely Anchuca Mansion while Deborah
and her family were settled in the grand Duff Green Mansion.

After the ceremony the reception took place back down the street at Duff Green
complete with a live performance of American Folk Music by Dante's Dulcimers.

I even got an Eskimo Kiss from my favorite" Little Snow Bunny".

We couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off the New Year than shooting
Jason and Ana's wedding at Grace Fellowship Church in Greenville this past
Saturday! Even though the cold weather kept us inside all day, we were blessed
with shooting in one of the most beautiful and modern churches we've ever had
the pleasure of working in.

Then on to the reception which took place at the E. E. Bass Arts Center where
the night took on a vintage Hollywood theme! The guests were treated to a
beautifully edited documentary movie staring none other than Jason and Ana
before the meal was served.

We would also like to extend a special 'thanks' to the Cantu and Smith families for
your hospitality and kindness. Thank you!

So without further ado, we would like to post a few pictures in the meantime while

the great Delta town of Indianola! The weather was almost perfect...with the exception of it
being a tad bit cold! The previously planned outside reception wound up being relocated to an
inside setting although you would have never guessed it. The decorations and settings were
gorgeous with details galore!

Two sources of music filled the air, the Jazz combo "Jazz Persuasion" during the
meal and DJ Bill Alford of Alford's Music for the dance tunes afterwards.

We had a great time this afternoon participating in Beautiful Bride 2009 at the Convention Center here in downtown Vicksburg! It's always a treat doing these shows as it gives us the opportunity to 'talk shop' with other photographers and wedding vendors in the area.

We had the pleasure of visiting with our old friend Greg Britt of Greg's Photography based out of Brandon, MS. We met Greg while studying under Ron Blaylock at Millsaps College. Frank Wilson of Frank Wilson Photography sold me on the BODA bag. Nothing like a friend to help you rid yourself of money! We also had a nice visit with Jason Hopkins and the fine folks of Hopkins Photography & Video.

We heard talk of a special announcement coming soon from Eddie and Racheal of Racheal's Photography here in Vicksburg. You may want to tune into their blog for that! I remember the mention of 10' tall windows. Then it was all smiles. On a more serious note, I would like to personally thank Eddie and Racheal for all of their kind words of support that they extended to Pam. You guys are fine folks and we appreciate it.

We started off our holiday weekend with a visit to this beautiful Sunflower field.

Mrs. Peggy Gouras was our very special hostess and tour guide.

Oh Yes, it was a hot July morning here in the south. I believe it reached 98* today.

Back at the cabin, Mrs. Peggy gave Summer a special book "Mrs. Piggle Wiggle"

This morning we took a trip down to Natchez to scout the grounds of
the Twin Oaks mansion. We will be shooting a wedding there this upcoming
May.

Everything was perfect! Giant Oak shade trees, shaded porches with white
walls, brick walk ways with fountains...and lots of windows. There should be
no problems with finding good light!
